Insufflator Winner Flow: Method to strengthen the pelvic floor

How to place the device?

It has to be placed in the mouth introducing the Winner Flow between the lips until the first flange. The Winner Flow should not be squeezed between the teeth, but between the lips, and should be in the direction perpendicular to the face during the entire duration of the active expiration.

Choice of Winner Flow pressure gauge:

The Winner Flow is an insufflator that offers a series of pressure gauges adapted to any morphology. The device incorporates a flange for regulation of the expiratory flow, allowing the choice of caliber (from 2.5 to 0). In principle, it is recommended to start at 1 in the first session in horizontal position and find the right caliber, until reaching 4-5 seconds.

If this time interval is not reached, the gauge should be reduced: 0.8 is represented by 1 point; 0.6 with two vertical points; 0.4 with 3 vertical points and 0.2 with four vertical points. On the contrary, if this time interval is exceeded, it will be necessary to increase the opening of the Winner Flow.

To choose an appropriate gauge, follow the following tips:

1- Choose a suitable Winner Flow gauge and insert it in the mouth up to the flange.

2- If the thorax is blocked or rigid, the diaphragm is tense or the abdomen is incompetent (weak, dilated or distended), select a small caliber, less than 1.

3- Blow without taking air previously. It is about the condition of a good practice of the concept. The puff time, regular, without acceleration or blocking, should last 4 seconds. If a time interval of 4 seconds is not achieved, it will be necessary to decrease the Winner Flow gauge to finish at 0.2, which is represented by four vertical points, or even 0. If the time interval is exceeded, it should be Increase the gauge gradually.

4- The recovery of a competent abdomen and, therefore, a competent murmur, allows reaching the 2.5 caliber.

5- At this point you will have to switch to «Toning» mode and use smaller and smaller calibers. The small calibers used at the beginning of the treatment later serve to create a resistance to the murmur (musculation). In order to create resistances to the breath, it is essential to expire without previous inspiration.

6- In a high sitting position, the murmur seems easier because it facilitates the descent of the thorax during the murmur due to gravity. Taking these considerations into account, the size of the Winner Flow is usually almost always greater than that used horizontally.

7- The position of the diaphragm at the start of the expiration in the Winner Flow determines the orientation of the pressures:
7.A- Without prior air intake , the abdominal muscles push the viscera and the diaphragm distended upwards.
7.B- A deep inspiration before blowing produces a descent of the diaphragm downwards. The use of a small gauge of the Winner Flow slows down the rise of the diaphragm, allowing the downward pressure to be directed towards the organ in question.

8- Always follow the therapist's recommendations in the choice of the different calibers.
