Musculoskeletal ultrasound for healthcare professionals: essential examinations

Basic musculoskeletal ultrasound course in which you will learn the basics of ultrasound, essential lower extremity examinations, and how to recognize abnormal findings, improving clinical reasoning in physical therapy.

Opening hours : Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In this course, you'll learn the basics of ultrasound, essential examinations of the upper and lower extremities, and how to recognize abnormal findings, improving clinical reasoning in physical therapy.

Modules:

MODULE 1:

Introduction, basic principles and introduction to normal ultrasound imaging (approximately 2 hours)

Seminar 1A: Introduction and physical principles of ultrasound.
Seminar 1B: Training in different imaging modes.

MODULE 2:

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound of the Upper and Lower Limb


Seminar 2A : Musculoskeletal echo-anatomy of the upper limb + practicals (approximately 6.5 hours)
2Aa: Echo-anatomy of the shoulder and arm joint complex
2Ab: Echo-anatomy of the elbow and forearm joint complex
2Ac: Echo-anatomy of the wrist joint complex


Seminar 2B : Lower limb musculoskeletal eco-anatomy + practices (approximately 6.5 hours)
2Ba: Echo-anatomy of the hip joint complex and muscle
2Bb: Echo-anatomy of the knee and leg joint complex
2Bc: Echo-anatomy of the ankle joint complex


MODULE 3:

Introduction to Echo-Guided Interventional Techniques: Echo-Guided Invasive Physiotherapy (approximately 1 hour)


Seminar 3A : Introduction to dry needling, neuromodulation and ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis (theoretical): explanation of the techniques and amplification of the physiotherapist's vision towards the use of these techniques.

Master's Degree in Instrumental Physiotherapy from the Camilo José Cela University in 2020-2021 and Expert in Ultrasound Anatomy of the Locomotor System and Peripheral Nervous System awarded by the Camilo José Cela University in the 2021-2022 academic year and University Master's Degree in the Study of Interventions in Emergencies, Catastrophes and International Cooperation during the 2021-2022 academic year.

He began his research and teaching career in the Department of Physiotherapy at Camilo José Cela University in Madrid. His main areas of research focus on invasive physiotherapy techniques and ultrasound anatomical imaging of the musculoskeletal and peripheral nervous systems.
