Tecar® therapy is an innovative treatment used in the field of veterinary physiotherapy and rehabilitation to treat muscle, joint or bone diseases. The TecarVet 4000 offers both capacitive and resistive modes, so its biological effect can be used both on tissues with high resistance (in practice, tissues with a lower water concentration) and on those with lower resistance.

TecarVet 4000 works at a frequency of 470 kHz, with a power of 160 W/KOhmios and with two types of treatments:

- DUALTRODE: mobile unipolar handle and electrode with return for resistive mode.
- CAPTRODE: monopolar handle with three removable plates of different sizes and electrode with return for capacitive mode.

How to apply tecar therapy in animals?

There are several preparation phases for using tecar therapy, first of all the shearing of the animal for the application of the plate. The limb to be sheared is the contralateral limb, that is, the limb opposite to the one to be treated.

The cream is then applied to the clipped area and the animal is placed on its side with the clipped area facing downwards, and the plate is applied to this point. The area to be treated is also shaved, i.e. the entire portion of the limb between the shoulder and the elbow, in its innermost part. In this case, the clipped area is covered with the cream, a little is also applied to the head, and then the treatment begins. The treatment involves a continuous sweep that follows the muscle fibres and therefore a longitudinal sweep.
