Speaker:

Dr. Samuel Fernández Carnero (PT, MSc, PhD) is a full-time professor and researcher at the University of Alcalá (Spain), with over 25 years of clinical experience. His work focuses on musculoskeletal ultrasound in physiotherapy, ultrasound-guided invasive physiotherapy, and ultrasound education. He has over 60 high-impact scientific publications and extensive international teaching experience. He is currently a member of the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Alcalá (Spain). He holds a PhD in Biotechnology, Medicine, and Health Sciences (2020).

She has received advanced training in musculoskeletal and rehabilitation ultrasound (RUSI) in Spain, the Netherlands, Israel, Poland, Ireland, and Canada. She holds Level I and II certifications as a musculoskeletal sonographer from the Spanish Society of Ultrasound and the European Federation of Societies of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB), and completed specialized RUSI training of the lumbopelvic region through University College Dublin, with Dr. Maria Stokes and Dr. Jackie Whittaker in Edmonton, Canada. Her expertise encompasses musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided invasive physiotherapy, assessment of muscle architecture, and ultrasound education. She has delivered over 200 postgraduate courses and seminars on ultrasound in Spanish and English, and regularly teaches clinical ultrasound in the Physiotherapy Degree program at the University of Alcalá. He was the President of the organizing committee for the 2nd International Symposium on Rehabilitation Ultrasound (RUSI) in 2016 and actively conducts research on the applications of ultrasound in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. He is the founder of the Spanish Society of Ultrasound in Physiotherapy (SEEFi) and a Board Member of the International Society of Electrophysical Agents (ISEAP), a subgroup of World Physio. He is the founder and creator of the world's first online ultrasound simulator (WAZO®).
