Jamar Smart Digital Hand Dynamometer: the first electronic dynamometer that works wirelessly

Jamar® Smart is the first electronic hand dynamometer that works wirelessly with a mobile app. Download the free Jamar Smart app from the Apple App Store and you can control your Jamar® Smart from your iPad tablet (iPad Air, iPad Mini, or original iPad version 3 or later).

The app is designed to streamline and improve patient assessments by allowing results to be quickly replayed, edited and saved. The free app includes the manual standard test.

Technical characteristics:

- Ability to set the number of repetitions from 1 to 5.

- Determine the hand(s) to try and which one to start with.

- Record the grip position on the Jamar.

- Easily accept or repeat any test.

- Instantly shows the results.

- Calculate the average, the standard deviation and the coefficient of variation.

- Compares the results with norms based on the sex and age of the patient.

There is also the option to download the full application, which includes:

- Optional patient name and/or ID, gender and age.

- Save test history and quickly create a new test with the same parameters.

- Additional tests: Rapid Exchange, 5 Position Grip and Sustained Grip

- Results for position 5 and grip hold are also displayed as a real-time graph for easy interpretation of the results

- Possibility to export results as PDF file

In the manufacture of this dynamometer, the hydraulic system found in other dynamometers has been replaced with a circuit board and electronic load sensors. This technological advance makes it a more accurate tool for measuring hand strength in clients with trauma and dysfunction of the hand. It has also been possible to increase the durability of the dyno by eliminating all internal moving parts and enclosing the electronics in a robust aluminum body with a scratch resistant UV coating.

The reading shows an isometric grip strength from 0 to 200 pounds (90 kg).
