Pinard Aluminum Kinefis Stethoscope - (15cm)

Cylindrical instrument made of wood or metal to facilitate monauricular auscultation of cardiac and respiratory sounds and later also used for the auscultation of sounds in other parts of the body, such as fetal heartbeat.

It consists of a hollow cylinder or truncated cone, which rests on the body surface, attached to a circular disk, on which the examiner rests the ear to practice mediate auscultation. It was the historical precedent for modern binaural stethoscopes. These fonfendoscopes began for the auscultation of the heart and lungs, but their final use was to listen to the fetal heartbeat.
